I’m the photographer behind Stryker Pose Photography and the photographer for the Cherry Bomb Burlesque Troupe.For me, photography is more than taking a good picture. I have aphantasia, which means I can’t visualize memories in my mind the way many people can. When a moment is gone, I can remember that it happened, but I can’t simply close my eyes and see it again.That’s part of why photography means so much to me.A photograph freezes a fraction of a second that would otherwise disappear. The expression right before someone laughs. The confidence of a performer owning the stage. The lights, the movement, the attitude, the chaos, and those little moments nobody realizes mattered until later.Burlesque has become a huge part of what I love to photograph because it has everything: personality, theatricality, vulnerability, humor, confidence, and unapologetic self-expression. Working with the Cherry Bomb Burlesque Troupe gives me the chance to capture performers not just posing for a camera, but becoming larger-than-life versions of themselves.I want my photos to feel like memories you can hold onto.Because I can’t replay moments in my head, I learned to preserve them another way.I photograph them.
